In a recent development, Dutch travel startup Bidroom, the Booking.com rival from The Hague has raised €15 million in investment, a couple of months after the new management board took office. With this, Bidroom has raised a total of €16M in funding over 3 rounds. Notably, the names of the investors have not been disclosed yet.
Product development, expansion and overhaul!
As per the company claims, the capital injection will be used for product development since the company is planning to increase its operational capacity to onboard more users and large chain hotels. With that being said, the company entered a new phase with the strengthening of the management back in September.
Ultra-modern office coming soon!
In addition to that, Bidroom intends to introduce a redesigned platform in the second quarter of the next year and aiming to grow its staff to 200 professionals by 2020. Plus, the company will be opening an ultramodern office in Krakow around April 2019.
A strategic tie-up with Visa
According to CEO Bas Tolmeijer, the focus is currently on recruiting IT specialists, marketers and customer service employees. He also added, that investments are being made in sustainable cooperation with various worldwide partners, such as Visa, with which Bidroom has entered into an exclusive partnership. This strategic partnership with Visa is aimed at ensuring that all cardholders in Europe can get the extensive knowledge of the benefits of booking through Bidroom.
Bidroom has offices in Amsterdam, Krakow, Istanbul and Paris!
Founded in 2014 by Casper Knieriem and Michael Ros, the Dutch startup recently moved to Amsterdam in 2017 and competes directly with other players such as Booking.com and Expedia. For the unknown, the online platform Bidroom.com is a membership-based hotel platform with 0% booking commissions and with 5-25% lower hotel prices for over 120,000 hotels in 128 countries.
First of its kind!
Interestingly, it is the world’s first commission-free service of its kind that saves revenue for hotels with best-deal hotel prices for frequent travelers. Casper Knieriem and Michael Ros developed this platform in an attempt to bring more fairness to the hospitality industry by saving hotels from abusive commissions set by big online travel agencies.
