These promising Dutch startups battle in a ‘shark tank’ for international fame

Promising Dutch startups Autheos, Incision Care, Storro and InBeacon will battle each other on July 5th during the Equinix ‘shark tank’, held at the Startup Village in Amsterdam Science Park. The startups have seven minutes to convince the jury of their success in the Netherlands and of their ability to open up new international markets. The winner receives full support to realize international fame.  

Equinix shark tank

quinix, StartupAmsterdam, StartupDelta and DutchBasecamp are the organizations behind the Equinix shark tank. The startup contest is on the same day as the opening of the Equinix data center AM4, which is the largest data center in Amsterdam Science Park, the city’s innovation and science hub. “The collaboration is meant to create a platform for digital startups and scaleups who are convinced they can conquer the world,” says Michiel Eielts, Managing Director Equinix Benelux. “Startups with international ambitions don’t become successful by just going out there, but by entering into the right collaborations and working towards a common goal.”

The contest

The start-ups will have mere minutes to make their compelling argument. The jury consists of Peter van Camp – Executive Chairman Equinix, Gary Hromadko – Venture Capital & Private Equity professional at Crosslink Capital and Michiel Eielts, Managing Director Equinix Benelux. Together with Dutch Prince Constantijn van Oranje, startup envoy of StartupDelta, they will announce the winner. The winning startup gets a study trip to Silicon Valley, access Equinix’ data centres for the length of a year to excel digital business, a yearlong support of an Equinix Solution Architect and an introduction to different investors from Silicon Valley.

Competing startups

The start-ups who will be battling are: Autheos, Incision Care, Storro and InBeacon.

  • Autheos enables brands and retailers to inspire, educate and convert consumers at their digital point of sale. Our solution includes video distribution and optimization tools specifically designed for the e-commerce environment.
  • Incision Care is a worldwide platform for surgical knowledge. Incision uses 3D and augmented reality content to ensure that surgeons can prepare for surgery in the best possible way. Incision builds a database with surgical learning tools and – in the future – surgery results.
  • Storro enables team members to cooperate without the use of the cloud or other central components. Storro only saves data with the people who work together. This makes it close to impossible for third parties to gain access to information without permission.
  • inBeacon platform  connects digital customer experience to visits to physical locations. This makes it possible to get better insight into customer behaviour at locations and to give the customer the right information at the right time. Marketers use a real-time dashboard and a design tool that can initiate new campaigns at any moment.
